I'm Jane a Mom of 2 lovely little girls ages 6 months and two, also aunt to 3 boys and 2 girls! After having my girls I just couldn't bare to work outside my home. So, I quit what I was trained to do, in exchange for doing what I love to do. It doesn't pay as much, but I reap priceless rewards everyday.
I have been in love with crafting for as long as I can remember. I come from a long line of artistic women, and have had constant encouragement and opportunity to be creative from a very young age. My mom is a photographer (she has also been known to paint, sew, and is quite good at the piano). I have two older sisters whom I would be lost without, one is an architect, and children’s book master (oops! spilled the beans), and the other a graphic designer who is extremely talented with a paint brush and color expert! My Grandmother passed years ago but her creative crafty masterpeices live on, she was a wiz at crochet, sewing, beading, and felting. Growing up we always had some new crafty project happening that consumed our living room and kitchen table! My Dad was also pretty crafty himself in the wood working room. I remeber him teaching me how to use a drill press when I was 8! I love making neat stuff out of all his leftover wood, he kept a special pile of scraps in the corner of his workroom just for me. I was always making something as a kid, friendship bracelets, scrunchies, painted rocks, I even once made my own movie projector out of a girl scout cookie box complete with a short film which I drew on plastic wrap! I have been familiar with sewing machines for as long as I can remember but never had the patience to realy learn all the formal tricks of the trade and stopped sewing all together in my teens. I was too busy making other things like soap! After I married my husband and setteled down a bit a little sewing shop opened up at the corner of our street. When I went in to check it out all the smells of fabric, hearing the hum of the machines, and seeing the miles of ric-rac, trim and perfectly lined rows tread spools I suddenly felt at home. I haven’t stopped sewing since! I've managed to teach myself to sew through making mistakes! I'm sure this process took way longer than a formal sewing class, but it allowed me to really find my own niche and style.
Now that I'm a mom, I have so many opportunities to create fun stuff! I'm always making little toys for them. I love watching children reach milestones in there development, and am so entertained by the sagas that unfold when a toddlers imagination starts to take flight. So with a little help from my childhood development text book, a sewing machine and endless inspiration from the most prominent women in my life, my sisters, my mom, and my late grandma who made me hundreds of handmade toys when I was little. I came up with some pretty neat stuff for the kids! Memories of my Grandmas handmade gifts have given me a bottomless sea of inspiration and ideas. My pieces have brought many smiles our kids faces. And I am honored to be able to share them with you and the little ones in your life.
